If you are interested in taking an active role in helping people, then you might consider volunteering for Saint Mary's.
You can join the more than 240 volunteers who provide important services inside Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, at off-campus sites or within the Hospice Volunteer Program. It's an opportunity for you to learn new skills, develop interests and ultimately help people--the best reward of all.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Medical Center
Volunteers within the Medical Center work in a number of areas, including:
- Baby photos
- Chaplaincy
- Delivering flowers and mail to patients
- Discharging patients
- Emergency services
- Gift shop
- Holding babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Pet therapy
- Physical therapy
- Surgery reception
- Surgery transport
- Voluteer patient liaison

Volunteer Opportunities Outside the Medical Center

Volunteer Opportunities with Hospice
For individuals who want to help families of patients who are facing the end of their lives, Saint Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada welcomes volunteers. Hospice volunteers need to complete a training program and, after training, typically give four hours of their time each week. Hospice volunteers do not provide medical care; however, they are an important and welcome part of the team. Volunteer opportunities within the Hospice Volunteer Program include: ·
- Providing companionship for Hospice patients and families
- Doing simple tasks for Hospice patients and families
- Providing bereavement support
- Assisting in the Hospice office
