Vaccines For Children Provider
Saint Mary’s Immunization Clinic is a Vaccines For Children (VFC) provider with the state of Nevada. Children (up to age 18) eligible for the VFC program include American Indians, Alaska Natives, children with no insurance and children with insurance that does not cover vaccines. Those who qualify to receive VFC vaccines for free at Saint Mary’s Immunization Clinic will pay a small administration fee per vaccine.

Hepatitis A Immunizations
Nevada has twice the national average of Hepatitis A; therefore, the CDC recommends that families consider having this immunization. This is a two-shot series, with the second shot administered 6-12 months after the first. The vaccine is recommended for travelers, employees of day care centers and institutional care workers. Food handlers pose the risk of spreading the disease to others. Hepatitis A immunizations are now required for school aged children. Children ages four and under need a prescription from their doctor.
Hepatitis B Immunizations
Any person with the possibility of exposure to blood and bloody body fluids should receive a Hepatitis B immunization, as well as adolescents, teens and young adults. Remember, this disease is transmitted through blood and bodily fluids and can be sexually transmitted. This is a three-shot series. Hepatitis B immunizations are now required for school aged children. Children ages four and under need prescription from their doctor.
Hepatitis B Titers
This blood test will confirm immunity to Hepatitis B.
Twinrix Vaccinations
This vaccine is a combination of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B and is a three shot series.
Tetanus Vaccinations
Booster shots are needed every ten years to help prevent tetanus.
Pneumonia Vaccinations
This vaccine is recommended for all adults age 65 or older and anyone with certain chronic illness, such as heart disease, lung disease and diabetes.
Flu Shot
This vaccine is recommended for anyone wanting to reduce the risk of influenza.
Meningococcal Vaccine
This vaccine is recommended for all college age students - especially students living in dormitories.
MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella)
Two doses, one month apart, are recommended for adults born in 1957 or later if immunity cannot be proven.
Prevnar
Pneumococcal disease is a serious disease that causes sickness and death. Among children five years old and under, this disease is responsible for about 200 deaths each year . The number of doses needed depends on the age the vaccination is started.
Varicella
Anyone who has not had the chicken pox should be immunized. Adults receive two doses and children receive one dose after 12 months of age. This immunization will be required for all school aged children, beginning July 2003.
