Hospice care is for people with a life-limiting illness who want comfort care rather than a curative treatment. While some patients reside in assisted-living facilities, group homes or extended-care facilities, most patients are cared for in their own homes.
Saint Mary’s Hospice utilizes a team-centered approach to provide patients and families with compassionate medical, emotional and spiritual care. Our goal is to keep our patients as comfortable and pain free as possible, while maintaining their dignity and quality of life.
Team members are committed to addressing the medical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families.
- A medical director supervises the team.
- Nurses are available to meet with the patient as needed and make arrangements for medications and medical equipment.
- Home-health aides assist with bathing, comfort and personal care.
- Social workers provide assistance with emotional, financial and legal issues.
- Chaplains are available to address any spiritual concerns a patient may have.
- Volunteers are on hand to provide companionship for the patient, respite for the families and help out with errands.
- Bereavement or grief counselors provide one-on-one counseling and support groups to assist family members after the death.
